For our own websites, we decided to use West Host. While they may cost just a little more than those “$3.95 per month” web host companies, they have many free apps people want to use on their website and they keep their software versions current.

Some benefits of using West Host:

Many popular applications are available and included with the account, such as Word Press.
Most applications are free and easy to install with just a few clicks of the mouse.
They have 24/7 Technical Support – online, by email, and telephone.
They include free email accounts for each hosting package.

National Business Directories

Below are a few business-related directories we have listed ourselves on. Note: Some of these directories may require you provide their link on your website (link exchange) for them to continue to keep your link open on theirs. Depending on your comfort level, always check a directory first to see if they require a link back and then decide if you want to list with them.

Web Designs by LAO is featured on the Web Designers Directory. This is another web designer directory and does require a link-back to maintain a listing.

Brownbook.net, a free directory for use by any type of business. The directory includes connections for Facebook, if desired, as well as reviews by customers. We were impressed by the speed in which the link showed up on Google.

AboutUs.com, a directory that states themselves as, “the Wiki Way of Websites”.

HotFrog. HotFrog is a free USA business directory which allows you to add your business very easily.

Our Directory Listings

Before putting ourselves on a directory, we always check to make sure the directory is not just a “link-generator”. We try to list ourselves on a directory that will provide web design-related information to our visitors. NOTE: Links on a website should always be checked to make sure they still work. That will avoid the possibility of website pages not being indexed by search engines or frustrating your website visitors.

While we are not responsible for any actions of the organizations or businesses listed, we do continuously verify the reliability of their links and listings. If you find a link that is broken, please email us so we can fix it. Thank you.
